Telling others

Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone. But the more he did so, the more they kept talking about it. ~ Mark 7:36

I have been reading in the book of Mark the past few days, and I can't get over one repeated theme. Time and time again, while Jesus was on earth, He told people not to tell others about what He had done for them, or what they had seen. And none of them could do that. They all rejoiced at the wonderful things they saw or experienced through Christ, and wanted to tell everyone that they encountered after that (with the exception of the disciples)! After the death of Christ, we were told to tell the world of Him, and what He has done, and we can't seem to follow that command. It's the exact opposite of the way it was then. When He wanted people to keep the news about Him to themselves, they couldn't. Now that He want's us to share with the world, we keep it to ourselves. Talk about irony!

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. ~ Mark 16:15
