A Speechless Word-filled Wednesday

If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. ~ 1 Peter 4:11

Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me... ~ Ephesians 6:19

These are the two Scriptures that are on my heart tonight. Just a little while ago I received an e-mail that broke my heart. It was from someone who is hurting, who is seeking biblical encouragement. My problem is that I don't know how to begin to relate to the pain they have recently experienced, and the truth is that they don't want me to. They know what they feel, they want to not feel that way anymore. The pain in their words touched my heart, and left me speechless.

So tonight, my prayer is that God will give me the words to say to this person. Not my words, but God's words; the words that they need to hear, because my words are utterly meaningless. Words that are my own could never bring the healing that this person needs. There is an age old saying that says 'time heals all wounds.' I have heard many people say that it simply isn't true, others who swear by it. But I think the real truth is that God heals all wounds, and sometimes He takes His time to do it so that we can learn along the way. When He is finished there is often left a scar that serves as a reminder of where we have been and the journey that brought us to where we are today. God always has a purpose, even if we can't see it.

I am so thankful that while I don't have all the answers, God does. I'm just praying that He can grant me the words to comfort and encourage this person so desperately in need of His healing.

  1. And God will go before you with favor as we lift you to the throne of grace, preparing you to speak and preparing them to listen. Thank you Heavenly Father for what You are about to do as we lift up the name of Jesus.

  2. God is good to give what we need! I understand because I have been in your situation before . . . not knowing what to say, not being able to relate through experience. But I felt words and a boldness not my own to share!

  9. Always remember that God ordains such meetings...He brought this person to you "for such a time as this." He who calls will also equip you. Praising the Lord that He has given you the opportunity to reach the hurting with the love of Jesus!
